UN Women, the African Union Commission, and the Permanent Mission of Germany today launched the African Women Leaders Network, a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to enhance the leadership of women in the transformation of Africa with a focus on governance, peace and stability. The Network was launched following the three-day High-Level Women Leaders Forum for Africa’s Transformation, which took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 31 May to 2 June. Advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda – a German priority for 25 years

On 31 October 2000, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1325, which provided the foundation for the Women, Peace and Security Agenda. Since then, there has been progress in advancing the participation of women in peace processes and on other key areas of the agenda. But a lot of the work still lies ahead.
